FrontWars is an open-source project based on the OpenFrontIO project originally created by **OpenFront LLC**,  
with extensive modifications and ongoing development by **VexxusArts Ltd**.

FrontWars is a derivative work that combines components under multiple open-source and asset licenses:

- **MIT License**  
  Applies to portions of the original OpenFrontIO codebase except where otherwise noted.

- **GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0)**  
  Applies to the `/client` directory as of commit `1d00f1031a3ac65f3c44b187e9b15c6d2b7d063a` (October 2025),  
  and to all derivative client code produced by VexxusArts Ltd.  
  The AGPL-3.0 extends the standard GPL to ensure that any network-deployed version of the software  
  must make its complete source code available to users.

- **Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0 with Commercial Exemption for VexxusArts Ltd**  
  Applies to any assets located in `/resources/non-commercial/`.  
  These assets may be used non-commercially by the public under the terms of CC BY-NC 4.0,  
  while **VexxusArts Ltd** retains a permanent commercial use exemption allowing unrestricted use  
  and monetization within FrontWars.

- **Game Assets (Replaced)**  
  All previously non-commercial or proprietary assets from OpenFrontIO have been  
  **removed and replaced** with new, original assets created by **3AM Experiences LLC**  
  and licensed exclusively to **VexxusArts Ltd** for use in FrontWars.  
  These new assets are not subject to the original OpenFrontIO non-commercial restrictions.
